Tay Ho's history is simple. What began as a life long dream for Denise (Tay Ho's owner) to own a restaurant that featured her mother's home cooked recipes became a reality in September 2010. Three years later Mama Ho(aka Chef Anna) is still rolling out her hand-rolled steamed soft rice noodles (Banh Cuon) and her famous Spicy Beef Noodle Soup (Bun Bo Hue). Tay Ho’s menu has evolved from this simple menu to now featuring more regional Vietnamese dishes such as Bun Cha Hanoi (Hanoi Trio of Pork), Hanoi Turmeric Fish with Dill (Cha Ca La Vong) and the Crispy Crepe (Banh Xeo) to name a few. All of Tay Ho’s dishes display exquisite flavors of traditional Vietnamese cooking but display the “happy marriage” of the California and Bay Area influence on this already exceptional cuisine.
At Tay Ho we believe food should be made with the freshest ingredients so we purchase meat and produce from local vendors and farmer’s markets.
Tay Ho sources wine made exclusively from the local East Bay urban wineries. We also serve beers from local breweries and beers imported from Vietnam, Malaysia, Laos and Japan.
Tay Ho Restaurant is conveniently located in the heart of Downtown Oakland just a few blocks from the Historic City Hall. We are just two blocks from the 12th Street/City Center BART station and easy access from 880/980/580.
